This week, we are very pleased to announce that we are partnering with Asda in the expansion of their in-store refill zones. Asda launched their first refill zone in the Middleton store in Leeds in 2020, as a concept test-and-learn, and we are proud to be teaming up with them to provide the first Petcare offering, as this model expands.
As part of our global sustainable packaging ambitions, at Mars we’re taking action to redesign our packaging portfolio to reduce the packaging we don’t need. By trialling reuse and refill models we can learn what works best in-store for consumers, as we work to enable pet parents to make more sustainable choices, whilst still purchasing their favourite brands.
A range of Mars Petcare products under some of our most popular brands, including Whiskas and Pedigree, will be available in the Middleton and York stores later this year. By providing products for both cat and dog, across dry and care and treats, we can gather useful insights from a range of pet parents as we learn and scale this model.
At Mars, we’re working hard to create the world we want to see tomorrow, and this trial is another important milestone as we work toward our goal of 100% recyclable, reusable or compostable packaging by 2025. We’re delighted to be partnering with Asda in this initiative and believe that this is an important step in supporting a more sustainable, circular economy.
